WHAT THE FUTURE OFFERS TO
THOSE WHO ARE CHRISTIANS
TEXT: Joshua 3:1-5
INTRODUCTION : Time offers opportunity. The past, present, and future
offers opportunities. Many have been the opportunities that have been
offered to Christians in the days gone by . As the past has offered opportunities
even so the future offers opportunities to the Christian . Let us consider from
God's precious Word what the future offers to those who are Christians .
I. THE FUTURE OFFERS FELLOWSHIP WITH THE TRINITY .
1. There is fellowship with God the Father ; Gen. 5 :22, 24 ; 6 :9.
2. There is fellowship with God the Son : Matt . 18 :20 ; John 15 :5 .
3. There is fellowship with God the Holy Spirit ; Rom. 8 :9; I Cor . 3 :16 ;
II Cor. 13:14.
II. THE FUTURE OFFERS FELLOWSHIP WITH FELLOW
BELIEVERS.
1. This fellowship should follow conversion ; Acts 2 :46, 47 .
2. This fellowship should be a fellowship of unity ; I Cor. 1 :10.
3. This fellowship should be a fellowship of love ; John 13 :34; Eph. 5 :2,
19, 30 .
III. THE FUTURE OFFERS THE OPPORTUNITY FOR CHRISTIAN
SERVICE.
1. The Christian is commanded to serve ; I Cor. 15 :58 .
2. The Christian is commanded to serve until Jesus returns ; Luke 19 :13 .
3. The Christian who serves the Lord shall be rewarded ; Rev. 22 :12 .
IV. THE FUTURE OFFERS PERSECUTION .
1. The Christian may expect to be persecuted ; John 15 :20 ; II Tim. 3 :12 .
2. The persecuted Christian should be patient while suffering persecution ;
Isa. 53 :7 ; Heb. 10 :36 .
3. The persecuted Christian should commit himself unto God ; I Peter 4:19 .
V. THE FUTURE OFFERS DEATH OR THE RAPTURE.
1. The penalty of physical death is universal ; Gen. 3 :19 ; Heb. 9 :27 .
2. The return of Christ delivers the Christian from physical death ; I
Thess. 4 :15-17 ; I Cor . 15 :51-56 .
3. The return of Christ is the Christian's "Blessed Hope ; Titus 2 :13, 14 .
VI. THE FUTURE OFFERS HEAVENLY GLORY .
1. Heaven is a place where God's people rejoice ; Rev . 1 :5, 6.
2. Heaven is a place where God's people serve Him ; Rev . 22 :3 .
3. Heaven is a place that is perfect ; John 14 :1-3 ; Rev. 21 :4 .
