Text: Matt. 6:9-15 I. WE ARE SONS - "Our Father" - Father and child relationship1. The view of God by prophets in the Old Testament times (to see God was to die) 2. The view of God by philosophers in the Greek and Roman world (He was an isolated God) 3. The view of God by pardoned saints of the Grace Age- John 14:6 II. WE ARE SAINTS - "Hallowed be thy name" - Deity and worshiper relationship. "Hallowed" - same word as Holy in the Old Testament -- Holy nation--holy tithe-- Holy place. Word means "that which is different". "Name" stands for a person!s character - John 17:6III. WE ARE SUBJECTS - "Thy kingdom come" -Sovereign and subject relationshipThree concepts of the Kingdom 1. Cosmic Kingdom- World that now is, is bad - New world to come2. Political Kingdom- Jewish triumph- Christ of God to reign 3. Ethical Kingdom- doing God 's will on earthIV. WE ARE SERVANTS - "Thy will be done" - Master and servant relationshipFour ways men accept the will of God 1. In resentfulness - like Batoovan2. In defeat- like Julian the Roman emperor 3. As a force you can 't evade- Father and daughter4. As knowing that God knows what is best for you V. WE ARE SECURERS - "Give us this day our daily bread" Benefactor and beneficiary relationship- We secure our daily needs through our Lord.VI. WE ARE SINNERS - "Forgive us our trespasses" Savior and sinner relationship - God forgives us as believers as we forgive others- vss. 14-15; Matthew 18:2135VII.
