THE MINISTER OF WEAKNESS
II Corinthians 12:7-10
Weakness has been described as the failure in our ability to carry, to
do, or to understand.
I. The Purpose of Weakness
Vs. 7 tells that weakness is given (this word indicates a gjft) as
a messenger of Satan for the express purpose "...Iest I should be
exalted above measure." (Too Big For My Britches)
II Cor. 1:8-9 "...not trust in ourselves, but in God..."
God will put more on us than we can bear to get us to Himself.
II. The Principle Of Weakness
In vs. 8 Paul sought the Lord three times to remove this thing. Vs.
9 gives His reply to our weakness. "...My grace (the power to do
and to be) is (perpetual present tense) sufficient (more than enough)
for thee:..."
Vs. 10 teaches "... when
I am weak, then am I strong..."
Vs. 9 tells us that we are made perfect (ability to ljft it and go
on) by weakness through His strength.
We should "...glory... (reflect Him) in infirmities and in vs.
10 we should "...take pleasure..." (rejoice) also.
Vs. 9 tells us why - "...that
the power of Christ may rest upon me."
IV. The Pinnacle Of Weakness
Romans 8:28 is the ultimate end
for our weakness. It is God's
desire in Vs. 29 that we should be conformed to His image.
Vs. 28- know - means
by experience
Illustration: The working together is the same as the kneading of the
dough. Biscuits are made of ingredients ,jf served alone (flour, lard,
buttermilk), I cannot tolerate.
When they are all put together is it very likeable and desirable.
