THE MINISTER OF DARKNESS
Isaiah 45
DARKNESS - Unknown,
evil, sorrow, tragedy, heartache, despair, hopelessness - A situation that we
find ourselves in, don ‘t know how
we got there and don ‘t know how to get out of no door knob on
our side.
I. Who Created Darkness?
vs. 7 "I... create...
"(to dispatch, to steer or direct)
"...form... " (mold,
fashion,
shape)
"...create darkness... and evil..."
"I the Lord do all these things."
II. Why Would God Create Darkness
vs. 3 "..give thee the treasures of darkness,..." (There
are some things that can only be learned in the darkness)
vs. 5 "1 am the LORD, and there is none else,..."
Isaiah 60:2 "...darkness shall cover the
earth, and... the people:...but
the LORD shall arise upon thee, and his glory shall be seen upon
thee."
III. Where Can I Find Real Light? (John 8)
Real light can not be extinguished.
vs. 12 "..I am the light of the
world..."
John 1:9 "...the true
Light..."
He is the REAL light.
IV. Have You Ever Had
Darkness Extinguished? (II Cor. 4:3-4;6-7)
vs. 6 "For God... commanded (created -
made from nothing) the
light to shine..."
V. What Should! Do When The Lights Go Out? (Isaiah 50:10)
vs. 10 "Who... walketh in darkness, and hail, no light? let him
trust in the name of the LORD, and stay upon his God. Trust and stay are
"ing" verbs. May we continue to trust and stay even when the
lights go out.
Illustration: Donald G. Barnhouse tells of his sister's
fear of the dark. At night when she would have to practice the piano he
would make sure the light switch was turn on for her. One evening he heard
her practicing and remembered that he had not turn the light on for her.
When he asked her how she had turned the light on, she told him that she
had made up her mind not to be afraid of the dark. Don't
be afraid of those dark times, only trust and stay upon your God.
